FAQs
Q: What are your sculptures made of?
A: I sculpt most of my ponies with polymer clay (specifically Sculpey Premo). The others are resins, created from molds I poured myself (from my original sculptures).
Q: How do you harden the polymer clay?
A: Sculpey Premo is baked in my oven at home at 275°F for 30 minutes per 1/4" of thickness. (But 30 minutes MINIMUM even for thinner pieces).
Q: Are they fragile?
A: I would not recommend them being handled by children under 10 (although Loctite gel superglue works for clean breaks). And please keep them away from your fur babies!
Q: How long does it take you to make a pony?
A: Getting their bodies sculpted usually takes me about an hour. From there, it depends on the details, but I would say anywhere from 3-12 hours.
Q: How big are they?
A: Usually ~4" long and ~4" high.
Q: How long have you been sculpting?
A: I actually sculpted my first horse back in 2000 under the instruction of Elizabeth Ritter (one of the most beautiful souls I've ever met) and started using polymer clay in 2013 after I was inspired by Erin (Whisper Fillies) and Becca (Dragons and Beasties). Since then, I've met SO many amazing people on social media who have shared encouragement, support and friendship and I am so grateful to have come this far and be able to wake up every morning and share my ponies with the world!
